HISTORY OF GREENHILL HOUSE AND GARDENS:

The development is located in the gardens of Greenhill House which was a Victorian manor house built around the 1830s by the prominent Evesham architect and builder, Solomon Hunt, who was commissioned by Caleb New to erect a splendid mansion house on the southern slopes of Greenhill. Over the years the house went through many owners before being converted into elegant and spacious apartments in 1946 and further buildings were developed later before the estate was bought 1980 by the current owner Chris Marlow who expanded the estate further to its current condition. Today Greenhill House and Gardens form a desirable private estate and all properties are independently owned on a leasehold basis with Greenhill Gardens Residents Association running the Management company. The original landscaped Victorian gardens are well cared for by a regular gardener and provide a tranquil environment for the retired, and other, who enjoy a quiet lifestyle.

LOCATION:

The site is located at the northern end of Evesham just off Greenhill which is situated close to the battlesite of the Battle of Evesham (4 August 1265) which was one of the two main battles of 13th century England's Second Barons' War which marked the defeat of the Earl of Leicester (Simon de Montfort) and the rebellious barons of Prince Edward (future King Edward I). Only 0.1 mile from Evesham Railway Station which is served by the Great Western Railway, which travels directly south-east to London Paddington, within 2 hours, and north-west to the City of Worcester, in 20 minutes.
