Waltham Forest

Originally an area of significant Roman occupation, Waltham Forest originally took its name from a historical institution responsible for managing deer in a large area to the east of the River Lea. Located in North East London, the area is culturally diverse and has a broad mix of affluent areas and those that are more economically challenged.

Home to Britain’s largest street market and famous as the birth place of football legend David Beckham, Waltham Forest was chosen as one of the six London boroughs that hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics. This bought significant investment in the area and there have been many regeneration projects connected to the Olympics. Many of these have been focused on the borough's more deprived areas.
