Tower Hamlets

Dominated by the iconic Tower of London, the East London borough of Tower Hamlets lies north of the River Thames and to the east of the ancient wall of London.

Historically a densely populated area where the less affluent members of London’s community settled when pushed out of the city, the area known as the East End experienced severe problems related to overcrowding such as poverty, disease and criminality. Famously the home of many notorious historical gangsters and badly affected by the bombing in World War II, today the borough has emerged from its challenging years.

Whilst retaining its multi-cultural diversity, areas of East London are becoming increasingly popular. With a vibrant, arty edge, areas such as Bethnal Green and Wapping are the places to see and be seen. Trendy bars, galleries, hipster art studios and unique eateries have emerged across the borough and prices for residential property are pushing steadily northwards.

Commercial property in Tower Hamlets

The same is true of commercial property. With fledgling businesses flocking to the area, particularly those with a bohemian twist, demand for competitively priced commercial space is rising rapidly.

Once derelict and uninhabited, warehouses to let in Tower Hamlets can now command a significant premium. Often used as art studios or funky office spaces, large buildings and docks which were once left in disrepair offer a fantastic option for those business looking to create an impression. Airy studios, unique retail units and alternative office space to let or buy can all be found in Tower Hamlets.

For example, Butlers Wharf offers restaurants and shops to let and a number of new mixed-use developments such as Ten Trinity Square, the News building and One Tower Bridge Road all offer office and retail space to let in Tower Hamlets.
